The Department of Parks and Rec Column

As summer rolls merrily along, the breadth of activities available in Moorestown extends not only to our youth and families, but also to our active adult population. Adults looking for a variety of activities and events need look no further than the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Whether you wish to play pickelball or badminton or are looking for a fun trip with other active adults, the Department of Parks and Recreation is the place to go! This summer, preparations are being made for a trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City on Sept. 9 to see Allen Edwards, singer and songwriter. Allen Edwards shows provide “a celebration of God, Family and Country” according to the singers Facebook page. He credits Jim Reeves, Ray Price and Perry Como among some of his greatest influences. Edwards has a warm style and presence that is often characterized as easy-listening country. This summer field trip is available to active adults seeking a fun getaway.

The Department of Parks & Recreation is proud to partner with the Evergreen’s Women’s Club to offer this event as one of the many “senior trips” that occur during the course of the year. The package for this day trip is $28 per person and includes $10 in slot money, a $20 food voucher and a ticket to the 3:30 p.m. show on Sept. 9. A bus will leave from the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, 101 Bridgeboro Rd., at 10 a.m. and will return at 7 p.m. Checks can be made payable to the Evergreens Women’s Club c/o 44 Red Leaf Road, Moorestown, N.J. 08057. Please include with your payment your name, contact information and an emergency contact. Please contact Mary Anne Barlow at (609) 870–7073 with any questions.

The Recreation Nation is proud to partnership with many local organizations to meet the needs of the entire Moorestown Community. From our wee tots to our active adults, the Moorestown Department of Parks and Recreation has something for everyone. For more information about upcoming events and activities, visit the department’s website at www.moorestown.nj.us.
