First responders can now borrow fire service books from the Burlington County Library System

First responders can now borrow fire service books from the Burlington County Library System thanks to a donation from the Hunter’s Heroes Foundation, which was formed recently to honor the memory of Cinnaminson Fire Department Lt. Christopher Hunter.

The non-profit organization has donated a set of 25 books to the Burlington County Library in Westampton.

Firefighters of all levels who have BCLS library cards will be able to borrow the donated books, which cover a variety of topics and can be difficult to find and expensive to purchase. By making them available through the library system, more firefighters will have access to pertinent training instruction that will help improve their skills and their departments. The books can be found by searching “Hunter’s Heroes Foundation” in the BCLS catalogue.

Lt. Christopher Hunter, 38, passed away suddenly on Nov. 15, 2014 after working his shift with the Cinnaminson Fire Department and responding to emergency incidents. A lifelong Cinnaminson resident, he had joined the department as a junior firefighter while still in high school and became a career firefighter with the department in 1998. In 2004, Hunter received a meritorious service award from the 200 Club of Burlington County for his role in rescuing an Alzheimer’s patient from a burning apartment in Delran.

As a lieutenant with the Cinnaminson Fire Department, Hunter was constantly reading and training to better himself and his department. Members of the Hunter’s Heroes Foundation hope many others will follow his example by taking advantage of the new library books now in circulation.
