Members of the Moorestown Newcomers and Neighbors Club visited the Barnes Foundation for a docent tour and lunch on May 18. The group was able to get a rare view of the recently discovered Cezanne sketches on the last day before they were returned to their original locations. These two unfinished sketches — one graphite and one watercolor — were created on the reverse sides of two watercolors by Cezanne and were displayed in double-sided frames.
In addition to the Cezannes, the group also viewed the fabulous collection of Degas, Monets, Renoirs and Van Goghs already hanging in the gallery. An added viewing treat was the new exhibition, “The Order of Things,” that featured three impressive installations that responded to Barnes’s vision for ordering the world.
In addition to the monthly cultural event, the club also has a bi-monthly “Coffee Kick-Start,” a monthly luncheon, Men’s Night Out, Bunco, Book Club and an annual Gala, Progressive Dinner and Family Picnic.
While the Club is a wonderful resource for individuals and families who have recently moved to the area, it also has members who have lived in Moorestown or nearby for decades.
