Doris Hansen, Doris (nee Spiller) of Marlton, formerly of Emerson, passed away on June 1 at age 89. Doris was the daughter of Harold and Florence Spiller and grew up in Chatham. She attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa, and received her BS RN from New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University) in New York City, where she was the valedictorian.
She worked as a nurse caring for newborn babies, first at Hackensack Hospital and then at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, retiring after 30 years. Doris was the wife of the late George E. Hansen, mother of Susan Hansen Mino and Carole Hansen Kraemer (husband Rick Kraemer), and grandmother of Christopher and Joseph Mino and Kelsey and Olivia Kraemer.
An avid crossword puzzle solver, she had an incomparable love of animals, especially cats, and volunteered at multiple animal welfare organizations. Doris was a longstanding member of the Westwood United Methodist Church, whose caring women’s group continued to support her after she moved to the Brightview Greentree community in Marlton in 2011.
Those interested celebrating Doris’s life and honoring her passing are invited to attend a memorial luncheon on Friday, June 5 from 12– 3 p.m., with a brief service at 1 p.m., at The Moorestown Field Club, 629 Chester Ave., Moorestown. Interment will be private.
