Voorhees Veteran writes advice to those graduating Eastern and entering military

This time of year when many school systems are trending toward commencement ceremonies; an event which launches its senior graduating class onto their next step, for many it’s college, jobs and for others it is the start of military training. A local veteran took on a personal mission to honor some who enlisted.

At The Voorhees Care and Rehabilitation Center there is a robust veteran community and a particular Naval/Army post-Korea veteran, Keith Seder, who noticed a congratulatory announcement in a newspaper for this years’ graduates headed into military service.

Seder met with Ami Feller, the center’s community relations director, and suggested they partake in congratulation letters for these students.

Feller told Seder that his idea fantastic and suggested he write the messages, as he was a veteran and he was sure to you have some specific messages for the graduates.

Feller also said writing the letters would be a great form of occupational therapy for you to practice as well.

Seder wrote up the personalized letters to the local graduates from Eastern High School, since it is immediately across the street from the center on Laurel Oak Road.

Feller color printed his letters into unique graduation cards and together they visited Eastern High School to deliver Seder’s hand-crafted messages.

In them, Seder offered each graduate advice that he garnered from his own military experiences.

Administration officials at Eastern High School told Seder that he had a great idea, and other veterans mentioned that this should be an annual occurrence.

Seder has had a positive experience and is considering wiring more messages for other local high school graduates with military enlistees.
