The Department of Parks & Rec Column

The third floor of the Church Street Recreation Center was standing room only for the first Third Floor Café Live on Friday, April 17. With 26 performers in 18 different acts the evening was the perfect end to a hectic week. The softly lit room with comfy couches and relaxed seating offered high school students a great way to unwind and listen to classmates perform.

The Third Floor Café Live is the newest program provided by the Department of Parks & Recreation. By offering teens a local, safe, entertaining evening parents were assured of safety and students were assured a good time. The goal of the department is to offer Moorestown citizens, healthy and safe recreational activities that are focused on building community. On all accounts, the evening was a tremendous success.

The department wishes to thank the following individuals and organizations for their help in producing this evening for teens. First, thank you to the many parent volunteers who helped to chaperone and provided set-up, oversight and clean-up for the evening. Thank you to community partners Passariellos, Starbuck’s on Main Street, Dunkin’ Donuts on Camden Avenue and the Philly Soft Pretzel Factory on Main Street. Thank you to the performers: James Adams, Max Bixby, Liam Davies, Natalie Derosa, Kyle Drouin, Emma Edenbaum, Matt Eng, Julie Every-Clayton, Emily Fordham, Ben Gromacki, Lauren Horta, Anais Massland, Lia Richter, Katrina Roberts, Rebecca Rovins, Sam Scheibe, Hannah Snyder, Ariana Sulpizio, Nicole Tsarouhas, Caroline Voyack, Rebecca Wallace, Gwen Wilkie and Maddy Yankell.

To say that Moorestown has some amazing young artists would be an understatement. The quality of the performances was comparable to coffee houses in the tri-state area.

The Third Floor Café Live will become a regular event at the Church Street Recreation Center. Plans are to have performances on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. The Third Floor Café Live is just another way the Department of Parks & Recreation is creating recreation opportunities for the Moorestown community. Offering a variety of recreation outlets, for all people, and of all ages makes Moorestown a vibrant and active community.
