On Sunday, April 19, 500 local runners, walkers, and advocates came out to attend Go4theGoal’s Richard’s River Run 5k at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken. This year’s run raised $50,000 that will be used to provide critical financial assistance, grant special wishes, and fund hospital programs for pediatric cancer patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Nemours/Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children.
Top times went to two Marlton residents, top male Jason Richwall with a time of 17:53 and top female, Dana Palumbo with a time of 19:30. During the award ceremony, Go4theGoal honored 11-year-old Cheyenne, who recently entered remission after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2010 and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2014.
“It is because of children like Cheyenne that Go4theGoal exists,” said Beth Stefanacci, Go4theGoal’s Founding Director. “Her courage and strength at such a young age inspires all of us at Go4theGoal to work as hard as we can to support her and the 50,000 children battling cancer nationwide.”
Go4theGoal is now hard at work to prepare for the 10th Annual Richard’s River Run 5k in Spring of 2016.
