Lenape Regional High School District will honor students who are entering the military or a military academy after graduation at the 6th Annual Armed Services Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 11, at the Lenape High School Auditorium in Medford. Lieutenant Colonel Justin C. Schaeffer, of the Army Acquisition Corps and Arlington National Cemetery, a Lenape High School and West Point graduate, will deliver the keynote address.
In addition to recognizing graduating students, alumni, employees, and parents of students of LRHSD who currently are serving in, or are veterans of, the Armed Forces (United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard) also will be honored.
“This annual ceremony has been so beneficial for our students and their parents/guardians,” said Christopher Heilig, Ed.D., Director of Programs and Planning at LRHSD. “Hearing the wisdom of the keynote speakers and interacting with them has given students an idea of what to expect and also realize what a noble honor it is to serve their country.”
Heilig added, “We are extremely pleased and excited to have a distinguished member of the military join us as our keynote speaker this year, especially because he is a graduate of Lenape.”
All qualified students, parents, staff, and alumni are encouraged to register and participate in the event. Students should notify their guidance counselors; other eligible honorees should register at http://www.lrhsd.org/armed_services signup and complete the electronic form, or contact Pam Scherf at (609) 268–2000, ext. 5529, or via email at [email protected].
