The Department of Parks & Rec Column and Schedule

In keeping with its mission to provide a wide variety of recreation outlets for everyone, the Department of Parks & Recreation is pleased to continue its Senior’s Day Trips. In addition to the many programs the department currently runs there are day trips and outings and new programs being developed to engage our seniors and active adult community.

One of the most popular Active Adult Day Trips sponsored by the department is the “Senior Trip to Resorts Casino.” On Friday, April 24 all interested seniors, ages 55 plus, are welcome to join the Evergreens Women’s Club on a fun-filled day in Atlantic City. This trip costs $35 and includes a Buffet Lunch at Caremes Culinary School and $25 in slot money. Bus transportation is provided and will depart from and return to the Presbyterian Church parking lot. Departure is 10 a.m. and return is 8 p.m. For those interested in attending, reservations should be made and checks made payable to the Evergreens Women’s Club and mailed to Maryann Barlow, 44 Red Leaf Road, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Questions can be directed to the Department of Parks & Recreation at (856) 914–3093.

Additional programs are being developed this spring to encourage increased activity levels in our mature adult community. A series of programs geared toward active adults are being developed and planned for this spring. In addition to the new Walking Club, which is designed for all ages and all activity levels, there will be “senior specific” walking programs. A general fitness program and gentle yoga classes are among the offerings being explored. Additionally programs that are geared toward seniors looking to re-enter the fitness community or increase their fitness levels are being developed. Keep checking the Department of Parks & Recreation class listings for more information and specific program dates and times.

The Moorestown Department of Parks & Recreation is committed to providing classes and programs for all ages and all activity levels in a variety of recreational pursuits. From field trips to fitness, the Department of Parks & Recreation has something for everyone.
