Moorestown Friends School Lower School students will welcome the Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble on Monday, March 16.
The group will conduct two workshops for first grade students, who are currently studying Africa. Workshops will take place at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the school’s Auditorium. At 1 p.m., the Ensemble will perform for the entire Lower School at an assembly, which will also take place in the Auditorium.
Founded in 1984 and based in Camden, the group has grown to become one of the largest professional traditional African dance and drum ensembles in the United States. The Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble has performed at many prominent events, including performances for celebrities, politicians, and religious, business, and community leaders in all parts of the U.S, in Trinidad & Tobago, and in Africa.
