Moorestown Friends School student wins first place in MATHCOUNTS Competition

On Saturday, Feb. 7, six Moorestown Friends School students participated in the Ocean-Burlington Chapter Regional MATHCOUNTS Competition: Miles Oglesby ’20, Bailey Butterworth ’20, Jonathan D’Souza ’19, Vineeth Veeramachaneni ’19, Charles Tanas ’20, and Daniel Quigley ’20.

Jonathan won first place in the individual competition for the second year in a row, and he will compete in the state competition on Saturday, March 14 at Rutgers University. Vinny placed in the top ten of the individual competition for the third year in a row.

The team, composed of Bailey, Jonathan, Charles and Vineeth, placed second overall at the Regional.

The middle schoolers were coached by upper school student Joshua Murdy ’16 and advised by middle school math teacher Kathi Bernard.
