Evesham Police arrest driver for DUI, eluding and aggravated assault on a police officer

The following report comes from Lt. Joseph Friel of the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Feb. 21 at 2:30 a.m., an Evesham police officer attempted to stop a vehicle that was driving at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner on Kings Grant Drive. The operator refused to pull over after the officer activated his overhead lights and sirens.

The vehicle came to a stop in the 1200 block Virginia Court, at which time the female driver exited the vehicle and ran towards one of the townhouses. The officer gave chase and was able to apprehend the female prior to her making entry into a home. The female became aggressive, resisting arrest and assaulted several officers before being subdued.

Arrested:

A female, age 42, of Marlton, was charged with third degree eluding, third degree aggravated assault on a police officer, fourth degree resisting arrest, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and numerous other motor vehicle violations. She was released on her own recognizance.
