The Lutheran Church of Our Savior hosts many winter events

The six-week winter session of Adult Bible Study at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior will continue through February, meeting on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Room 112, weather permitting.

Adult Bible Study will examine and discuss the Book of Acts. It is not necessary to have attended any of the previous sessions.

The Lutheran Church of Our Savior will celebrate Fastnacht on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall with fastnacht donuts, followed by Human Bingo and Karaoke.

Fastnacht originated among German Lutherans who fried diamond-shaped donuts to use up the lard in their homes in preparation for Ash Wednesday and the 40 days of penance during Lent.

Authentic German unfilled, powdered donuts as well as cinnamon-coated donuts will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by Human Bingo and Karaoke. A good will offering will be taken.

Holy Communion Worship at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior will be celebrated on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18 at noon and 7:30 p.m. with an optional imposition of ashes available at the end of each worship time.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season on the Christian calendar. Lent is the 40-day period of prayer and fasting in preparation for Easter.

Each Wednesday in Lent at LCOS, beginning on Feb. 25 and ending April 1, there will be a Lenten Soup Supper at 5:30 p.m. Each dinner will be followed by reading and discussing “Making Sense of the Cross” by Rev. Dr. David Lose, president of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

The monthly Senior Game Day will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24th at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Seniors are invited to attend to play bingo, bridge, pinochle and other games in the Parish Hall. Refreshments will be available.

Holy Week at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior will be highlighted by three Easter Sunday worship services April 5.

Maundy Thursday worship, on April 2, will be held at noon and 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the Lord’s Last Supper.

Good Friday, April 3 worship will begin at noon with an ecumenical service at Haddonfield United Methodist. The three-hour service will focus on Jesus’ last seven words.

A 7:30 p.m. Tenebrae “Service of the Shadows’’ will be held at Our Savior on Good Friday and focus on the cross of Christ.

Easter worship services will be held at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord. The adult choir will sing at all three services accompanied by the Seacoast Brass Quintet. There will be no Sunday Church School.

All are invited to attend and worship.
