The Camden County Department of Public Works has prepped the roads for a forthcoming winter storm event this afternoon. All snow districts will be covered in anticipation of the second snowfall of the season.
“The department will be working around the clock, keeping an eye on roadway conditions and monitoring weather forecasts as we get closer to snow fall,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works.
A quick moving clipper system will continue to evolve throughout the day today. There is a chance of one to two inches of accumulation for Camden County and temperatures will be in the low 30s with 8 to 10 mile per hour winds out of the northeast.
At the public works complex in Lindenwold, more than 70 pieces of equipment stand ready to keep county roadways passable and motorists moving. When the weather becomes treacherous personnel will be dispatched to 12 winter maintenance districts to salt and plow 1,200 lane miles of roadway across the county.
“As always, when the weather turns hazardous we recommend that motorists remain cautious and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations,” Leonard said. “Anyone on the roadways during these times should be prepared to encounter adverse road conditions. In addition, please be conscious of DPW vehicles on the roadways as they work to treat clear our highway system.”
