Theft, shoplifting top Mt. Laurel Police report this week

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

On Jan. 12 at 1:35 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Ulta on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting complaint. The investigation revealed that a 58-year-old woman from Palmyra stole $375 in merchandise. She was arrested and charged with shoplifting. She was released pending a court hearing.

An employee of the Aldi supermarket on Route 38 reported someone attempted to make a purchase using a counterfeit $100 bill on Jan. 12 at 3:45 p.m. The suspect left the store when confronted and left the money behind.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 30-year-old female from Marlton on Jan. 7 at 7:25 p.m. at police headquarters. The suspect was arrested following an investigation into the theft of $150 from a purse of an employee at the Sage Diner on Jan. 7. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

Two vehicles parked in the parking lot of a business at 824 East gate Drive had their windows broken on Jan. 12 between 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. Purses and wallets were stolen from the vehicles.

On Jan. 13 at 11:15 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Hainesport Road. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old man from Mt. Laurel, was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant. He was also found in possession of marijuana and brass knuckles. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and unlawful possession of a weapon. He posted bail on his warrant and was released pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 14 at 1 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Nixon Drive near Lenola Road. Officers arrested the 27-year-old female driver from Moorestown and charged her with driving while intoxicated. She was released pending a court hearing.

A Voorhees resident reported his credit card was used to make a fraudulent purchase in the amount of $2,674.99 at the Best Buy on Nixon Drive on Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m. The victim reported his card was stolen by someone who broke into his vehicle in Cherry Hill.

An employee of Young’s Landscaping, Pennsauken, reported the theft of chains used to secure equipment being stored behind 1100 Nixon Drive. The incident occurred between Jan. 7 and Jan. 14. The chains are valued at $500.

An employee of Walgreens on Route 38 reported a shoplifting and receipt of counterfeit currency. The incident occurred on Jan. 14 at 9:58 p.m. A man, approximately 20 to 30 years old, wearing dark clothing and a military style hat with white flowers on it, attempted to pay for a pack of cigarettes with a counterfeit $100 bill. When the subject was questioned by a store employee about the bill, he fled the store with the cigarettes.

An employee of Airserv Co. reported the theft of an air compressor, valued at approximately $1,200, from the Exxon station on Route 38 and Ark Road. The incident occurred between Jan. 8 and Jan. 15.
