The new year brought a new face to the Shamong Board of Education as the board’s annual reorganization meeting was held on Jan. 6.
Susan Daniels, along with returning incumbent Melissa Ciliberti, took their oaths as both were sworn in for three-year terms. Daniels was the leading vote getter in November’s election with 761 votes. Ciliberti had 748.

Ciliberti will once again serve as board president and Michael Tuman will continue to serve as vice president. Both expressed their gratitude to the board for their respective nominations.

- The board approved the following dates for its monthly meetings in 2015: Tuesday, Jan. 20, Tuesday, Feb. 17, Tuesday, March 17, Tuesday, April 28, Tuesday, May 19, Tuesday, June 16, Tuesday, July 21, Tuesday, Aug. 18, Tuesday, Sept. 15, Tuesday, Oct. 20, Tuesday, Nov. 17, Tuesday, Dec. 15 with a reorganization meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016. All meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the Indian Mills Memorial School.
- The board approved the re-adoption of its existing policies, bylaws, regulations, curricula and textbooks.
- The Home and School Association will host the Harlem Wizards on Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m. in the Seneca High School gymnasium. The Harlem Wizards are a professional entertainment basketball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters in that they bring a combination of basketball skill and fun for the audience. Tickets for the event will be available soon and more information can be found on the HSA’s page on the district’s website.
