On Saturday, Nov. 29 football players from Seneca High School gathered together to lend a hand in their communities. On that cold morning, a group of players picked up litter from an almost two-mile stretch of road near the Dingletown Fields in Shamong Township. Later that afternoon, another group of players joined others from the community at Holy Eucharist Church in Tabernacle to pack food bags for families in need in our immediate areas. In addition to packing the food into bags that would be picked up prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, the team had been collecting food from their individual neighborhoods for nearly a month and ended-up collecting nearly 1,500 pounds of canned goods and other non-perishable foods.
“Our community supports the football program so much and our boys are so very blessed. It is only appropriate we seek out ways to give back to our communities and those who may need our help. Whether it is cleaning up litter from a roadside in one of our towns or participating in a food drive, it is these lessons of giving to others without expectation of return that helps to shape our players into the men they will become. We are very proud of them and the work they do on and off the field,” Seneca Football 12th Man Club president Joseph Rosales said.
