The following information was provided by the Cherry Hill Police Department.
Narcotics detectives with the police’s investigative division uncovered suspicious deliveries and activity at a local self-storage unit and initiated an investigation. A person of interest was developed and officers on surveillance observed a male remove large boxes from the unit, place them in a vehicle and drive away. The vehicle was stopped due to the driver having a suspended driver’s license and he was ultimately arrested on a local warrant.
Cherry Hill Police K-9, Mika, arrived on location and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in an indication for the presence of a narcotic odor. The vehicle was subsequently impounded and officers applied for a search warrant of the car and involved rental unit. Execution of said warrants revealed approximately 100 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle and a large wooden crate containing over 150 pounds of marijuana in the rental unit. Through continued investigation police learned that the drugs were stored in Cherry Hill but they were distributed outside of this jurisdiction.
The driver, a 57-year-old man from Camden, was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, distribution of marijuana over 25 pounds and distribution of marijuana in a school zone. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in default of $250,000 full cash bail.
