Alice Paul Institute preparing for 30th anniversary in 2015

The Alice Paul Institute will kick off the celebration of its 30th anniversary in 2015 with two major events.

The institute will toast Alice Paul’s 130th birthday by inviting the public to hear ABC-TV news correspondent Lynn Sherr speak about her new book, “Sally Ride: America’s First Woman in Space.” Ride was honored by API in 1985 as the first recipient of the Alice Paul Equality Award. The event takes place at Moorestown Meeting House on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The 2015 Alice Paul Equality Awards, honoring individuals who continue Alice Paul’s mission of advancing women’s equality, takes place Thursday, March 19, at The Westin in Mt. Laurel. Honorees include the Alice Paul Institute’s founders, Christine Borget of Vincentown, Judith Buckman of Mt. Laurel, Barbara Irvine of Cinnaminson, Patricia Owens of Philadelphia, Jean Perry of Moorestown, Nancy Quinn of Lawrenceville, Janet Tegley of Savannah, Ga. and Patricia Williams of Haddonfield.

Other honorees are Lita Abele, president and CEO, U.S. Lumber, Inc. Woodbury Heights, Phoebe A. Haddon, chancellor, Rutgers University, Camden, and Candida Toccia Seasock, founder and president, CTS Associates LLC, Philadelphia.
