March of Dimes announces Virtua government relations vice president as Celebration of New Beginnings chair
The March of Dimes is proud to announce that Fred Hipp, Jr., senior vice president of government relations for Virtua, is the committee chair for the annual 2014 March of Dimes Celebration of New Beginnings awards that will be held at on Friday, Dec. 12, at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township beginning at 8 a.m.
The March of Dimes will honor New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney and John F. Crowley, chairman and CEO, Amicus Therapeutics, Inc. with the “FDR Visionary Award” for outstanding leadership and support of the mission of the March of Dimes: to prevent premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.
The Celebration of New Beginnings event was founded by March of Dimes and Pfizer to increase public awareness of the progress, promise of cutting-edge research, and public health programs in the areas of maternal and infant health in New Jersey.
At Virtua, Hipp is responsible for supporting and advancing strategic initiatives to improve the health and well-being of people who live in the service area through legislative and regulatory initiatives at the federal, state, county and local levels. Hipp designs and implements strategies, policies and programs to contribute to the development of health care public policy with state and national constituencies. He helps to develop external relationships, partnerships and coalitions to address health care public policy issues.
He is a member of the New Jersey Hospital Association and its policy development and government relations committees, the American Hospital Association and the New Jersey Business and Industry Association, among other professional associations. He is chair of the Healthcare Group for SMART, a regional technology and science consortium. He serves on the boards of the NJ Policy Research Organization, NJHA HealthPAC and NJBIA-affiliated NEW JOBS.
