The GI Go Fund, a 501©(3) nonprofit charitable organization, provides assistance to all military veterans, with a focus on veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, by helping them find employment, access housing and secure their educational and health benefits. Each year, Shamong School District’s nurses, Jennifer Simpson and Heather Cosper, spearhead the campaign to raise funds for this worthy cause.
On Nov. 12, their efforts succeeded in collecting $560 from teachers, students and parents, who happened to be visiting the school as part of the district’s annual school visitation day. All contributors wore jeans in honor of the troops and to recognize their donation to the fund.
