Two new art exhibits and sales will open on Medford’s Main Street, just in time for the holidays. At the Medford Arts Center, the annual Members’ Show and Sale will fill the galleries with 113 works by 50 artists. Paintings in all media will be on exhibit, including watercolors, oils, acrylics and mixed media works. The holiday spirit will welcome everyone to an opening reception on Friday Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. with live music, wine and cheese. Also opening at the MAC will be a display of the fine art of quilting by fiber artist Tracey Birnbaum, who will be present to chat with visitors.
The center will also be open during Dickens’ Festival on Dec. 6. Visitors may come in, see the art and warm up. Live seasonal music and a special demonstration by cartoonist Dave Bullock will bring smiles. While in California, Bullock drew for companies such as Warner Brothers, Disney Animation, DC and Marvel Comics, Hasbro and many others. He has recently moved to Medford.
Down the street at the Medford Community Center “Winter on My Mind” will also open on Friday, Dec. 5, featuring several area artists. Refreshments will be served and the artists will be present to meet and greet. This exhibit will also welcome visitors during Dickens’ Festival. The center will be decorated for the holidays and will serve festival-goers its famous hot chocolate.
