With Thanksgiving only but a week away and the winter holidays to follow soon after, Tabernacle residents are at no loss for events to keep them busy throughout the rest of 2014.
Bag Bingo
Residents may be able to win a few items on their holiday wish list, as Seneca High School will host a designer bag bingo fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 20 in the school cafeteria at 6:30 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will help fund the “110 Carranza Prom House,” an alcohol- and drug-free post prom party to be held at Seneca High School.
In an effort to encourage Seneca High School students to make good after-prom decisions, the school hosts an after-prom party. The event is open to all seniors and their dates whether they attended prom or not. During the event, there are plenty of games and prizes for the students to win.

Spaghetti Dinner
The Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 166 Carranza Road, will be holding an All You Can Eat Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 4:30 -7 p.m.
Tickets are sold at the door and are $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 4–12 and children under 4 are free.
It includes pasta, plain and mushroom sauce, sausage, homemade meatballs, salad bar, dessert bar, bread and beverage.
Turkey Bowl
This year marks the 11th season the Golden Eagles of Seneca will take on the Chiefs of Cherokee High School in the traditional Thanksgiving Day Turkey Bowl. The Chiefs have gotten the better of the rivalry compiling an 8–2 record against the Golden Eagles on Thanksgiving, including last year’s 34–14 victory at Seneca. This year’s game will take place at Cherokee as Seneca looks to pick up its first win against the Chiefs since winning 14–7 in 2009.
Holiday Shopping
The school store at Seneca will be open from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, for holiday shopping. Cash or checks only, no debit or credit cards accepted.
Tree Lighting
Tabernacle Township has been around for a long time — 113 years in fact — so it is tough for there to be any new firsts. But this holiday season will bring a first for the township, as the Tabernacle Historical Society, Tabernacle Woman’s Association and Tabernacle PTA will host an inaugural tree lighting event at town hall on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
Complete with hot cocoa, baked goods, crafts for kids and members of the Seneca High School marching band, color guard and chamber singers performing, the event has been on the minds of community organizations for a few years now.
“It’s been in the works for awhile now. All three groups all had ideas at different times and the historical society and woman’s association were working on details over the summer so we were excited all three group could come together and make this event happen for the entire community,” PTA President Jenn Quartarone said.
It is free for all to attend and enjoy some treats, holiday music and maybe a visit from Mr. Claus himself.
