The first concert in the West Jersey Chamber Music Society’s 35th season presents Music for Piano & Strings with Davis Pasbrig, piano soloist. The program will take the audience through different eras of music, ranging from high Baroque to contemporary. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Nov. 1st at the First Presbyterian Church in Moorestown.
The program opens with the West Jersey Chamber Orchestra performing J.S. Bach’s Concerto in d Minor, BWV 1052, a favorite Baroque work. Then Mr. Pasbrig and the chamber ensemble will enter the Romantic era with Ernst Bloch’s Concerto Grosso #1.
A side trip into Scandinavia for music inspired by ethnic sources follows: Norwegian & Swedish Folksongs for Strings by Johan Svendsen, a 19th-century Norwegian composer. The program closes with the Eclogue for Piano and Strings by Gerald Finzi, an English composer of the first half of the 20th Century.
