The Voorhees Theatre Company presents “The Music Man” starting Nov. 1

“Trouble” will visit Voorhees City, along with “76 Trombones,” “The Wells Fargo Wagon,” “’Til There Was You” and other beloved songs — with the Voorhees Theatre Company’s production of the iconic Broadway classic, Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man.” The show features a cast of nearly 60 performers of all ages from many south Jersey communities, as well as members of South Jersey’s Pine Barons Barbershop Chorus as the show’s famous quartet.

An affectionate paean to the Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era, Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the good people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize, even though he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian. By turns wicked, funny, warm, romantic and touching, “The Music Man” is family entertainment at its best. Meredith Wilson’s six-time, Tony Award winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.

“The Music Man” will be performed three times, Nov. 1 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m., at the Voorhees Schools Theater at Voorhees Middle School, 1000 Holly Oak Drive in Voorhees. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at the box office, for hours, call (856) 206–3554, or at the VTC website www.voorheestheatre.org. All seats are reserved.
