Our Lady of Lourdes obstetrician and gynecologist Daniel A. Berger recently received the 2014 March of Dimes Foundation’s Born to Shine award at the organization’s annual gala in Atlantic City. The prestigious award honors local top physicians for their dedication and clinical work in the field of maternal and child health.
Berger, a Medford resident, has been a fixture of the medical center and a champion of women and children’s health for the past eight years. In addition to his administrative role as vice-chairman of the OB/GYN Department, Berger serves as the division leader for the OB/GYN hospitalist program at Lourdes. In doing so, he has focused his practice and energy to providing the safest environment for pregnant women in labor and delivery. He also serves on numerous hospital committees, including the hospital’s medical executive committee, continuing medical education committee, Lourdes medical associates physician advisory board, as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center’s physician representative for the perinatal patient safety initiative at CHE-Trinity Health.
“Dr. Berger is a role model for his staff and fellow physicians,” said Alexander J. Hatala, president and chief executive officer of Lourdes Health System. “His clinical excellence, commitment to teaching and dedication to his patients make him truly deserving of this award. We are honored to have Dr. Berger as part of our team.”
“I am honored to receive this award and to be recognized by the March of Dimes,” Berger said. “I am grateful to make a difference in the lives of the women and children we care for at Lourdes here in South Jersey.”
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers University, Berger earned his osteopathic degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Berger completed an internship at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals and completed his residency in OB/GYN at the University of Florida — Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
