The public is invited to tour the facilities of the Civil Air Patrol’s Jack Schweiker Composite Squadron in Cherry Hill. The Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force.
CAP senior members and cadets will host a special open house on Monday, Nov. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, located at 2001 Park Avenue at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Grove Street.
The public is invited to meet pilot volunteers, get hands-on practice with flight simulators, experience aspects of life as a cadet by participating in special search and rescue activities, build model rockets and planes, and enjoy live demonstrations. There will be a variety of refreshments to enjoy.
The CAP Cadet Program, for students age 12 to 18, is an adventurous challenge to do something unique, and help get college scholarships, enter a service academy, or the military after graduation. Participants will find cadet life exciting if you enjoy flying, obstacle courses, model rocketry, leadership training, search and rescue, aeronautics, and making friends.
This family friendly event is free and open to the public.
