The Evesham Police Department is proud to participate in the inaugural “Township’s Neighborhood Awareness Campaign”. The department’s goal in participating in this campaign is to reach out to the members of the community in an informal setting so the department can discuss issues affecting their particular residential neighborhoods. The goal is to gather information from the community and then collaborate with the department’s stakeholders by providing specific areas of assistance to each section of the township instead of a blanket approach township-wide. This type of community interaction also provides department officers with the opportunity to speak with our area youths so they can feel more comfortable in approaching any of our members with their concerns.
For the entire month of October, Evesham Police Officers will be at each of Evesham Township’s Schools during dismissal times. During these times department officers will be handing out their trading cards to the children as they exit the school and provide various safety tips from internet safety to wearing helmets while riding their bicycles. The officers will then be canvassing the neighborhoods around the schools to speak to our citizens about issues in their particular communities.
“Personal contacts and connections with neighborhood residents, students, community groups and businesses through programs such as this are paramount to the department’s effectiveness of crime and traffic crash reduction,” said Evesham Township Police Department Chief Christopher Chew.
