Numerous thefts reported by Mt. Laurel Police last week

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

A resident of the 1200 block of Yarmouth Lane reported a theft. A package valued at $26, was taken from the front step of the residence. The incident occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Sept. 15.

An employee of Scientifix on Fellowship Road reported a theft. Three sheets of lead, valued at approximately $2,000, were taken. The incident occurred at 2:40 p.m., Sept. 14.

A member of LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle reported a theft. A gym bag and contents, valued at approximately $30, were taken from an unsecured locker. The incident occurred between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sept. 15.

A resident of the 5200 block of Church Road reported an identity theft. On Sept. 12 the victim discovered four checks were fraudulently cashed using their account information. The incidents occurred at a bank in Michigan on Sept. 4.

A resident of the 100 block of Hastings Way reported the theft of an unsecured bicycle, valued at $189, from the front of the residence. The incident occurred between 11 p.m., Sept. 16, and 5:15 a.m. Sept. 17.

On Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police located a vehicle being operated on Centerton Road near Stearnlight Drive that had been reported stolen out of Willingboro. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the two occupants, a 20-year-old man from Willingboro and a 20-year-old man from Trenton. The Willingboro man was charged with receiving stolen property and released pending a court hearing. The Trenton man was charged with receiving stolen property and turned over to another jurisdiction for an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

On Sept. 16 at 3:23 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 16-year-old male resident for the arson that occurred on Sept. 11 at 6:47 p.m. on the 5800 block of Coventry Way. An investigation identified the juvenile as the person who set fire to a decorative wreath that was hanging on the front door of an occupied townhouse. He was charged with aggravated arson, risking widespread injury or damage, and criminal mischief. He was placed in the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court hearing.

An elderly resident of the unit block of Holly Cove reported that he received four phone calls between Sept. 16 and Sept. 17 from a male suspect who stated he was from the Internal Revenue Service. The suspect told the victim he had won the lottery and although there were no taxes due he would have to pay “transfer fees” before he could receive his winnings. The victim was told on each occasion to purchase a Green Dot Visa debit card and load the card with a specific sum of money. The victim was then instructed to call the suspect back and provided him with the card and pin number to the Green Dot card. The victim completed four transactions totaling $1,690 before he realized he was being scammed. The phone number the victim used is no longer in service but had an area code from Jamaica.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 32-year-old woman, of the 1600 block of Denham Court, on Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. She was arrested after she was identified as the person who stole property valued at $125 from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 1600 block of Denham Court on Sept. 14. She was committed to the Burlington County Jail with bail set at $2,500.

A resident of 100 block of Kettlebrook Drive reported the theft of an iPhone 5, valued at $300 that he accidentally left on a park bench in the Lakes development. The incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Sept. 20.

An employee of Wawa on Larchmont Boulevard reported receiving counterfeit money on Sept. 19 at 6:40 p.m. A man approximately 20 years old, paid for merchandise with a $100 dollar bill that was later determined to be counterfeit. The suspect was observed leaving the store with another man in a newer model GMC U-Haul truck.

At 8:24 p.m. on Sept. 20, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the 100 block of Canterbury Road for an activated burglar alarm. Police found entry was gained by forcing the rear window. The suspects had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Jewelry, and a laptop computer, valued at over $1,000, was taken. Damage is estimated at $400.

At 9:53 p.m. on Sept. 20, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the 100 block of Williamsburg Way for an activated burglar alarm. Police found entry was gained by forcing the rear window. The suspects had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Jewelry and cash, valued at an undetermined amount, was taken. Damage is estimated at $250.

A resident of the unit block of Moorfield Court reported an identity theft. A fraudulent credit card account was opened using the victim’s personal information on Sept. 2.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Cherry Hill on Sept. 22 at 12:55 p.m. for shoplifting $93 in merchandise from Home Depot on Nixon Drive. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 19-year-old woman of the 100 block of Snow Avenue, Browns Mills, at police headquarters on Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. for the theft of a debit card. An investigation determined the woman stole the debit card from an acquaintance’s residence on Downing Court on or about Aug. 28 and then used the debit card at several stores throughout Burlington County. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police responded to the area of Route 38 and Larchmont Boulevard for the report of an erratic driver on Sept. 23 at 5:45 p.m. The responding officers located the vehicle on Downing Court being operated by a 57-year-old Mt. Laurel man. The man became belligerent with the officers and attempted to walk away from the stop. He threw a set of keys at one officer, striking him with the chest. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a police officer. No one was injured during the encounter. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 40-year-old man of the 700 block of South East Avenue, Bridgeton, on Sept. 24 at 12:29 a.m. for driving while intoxicated. He was arrested after being stopped on Church Road near Academy Drive for a motor vehicle violation. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 28-year-old man of the 1100 block of Route 73, on Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m. for shoplifting $693 in merchandise from Home Depot on Nixon Drive. He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail.

A resident of the unit block of Boothby Drive reported an identity theft. A credit card account was opened fraudulently using the victim’s personal information. The incident occurred at an unspecified date and time prior to Sept. 24.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 48-year-old man of the 100 block of Old Colony Lane, Marlton, on Sept. 24 at 10:46 p.m., for driving while intoxicated. He was arrested after being stopped on Union Mill Road in the area of Hartford Road for a motor vehicle violation. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

An employee of a business on the 6000 block of Atrium Way reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 25. A vehicle was keyed causing an estimated at $2,000 in damage.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 61-year-old woman of the 2100 block of Larchmont Place, on Sept. 26 for creating a false public alarm. Officers responded to the 2100 building of Larchmont Place for an activated fire alarm pull station. An investigation determined that there was no fire or other emergency on location and the woman activated the alarm for no legitimate reason. She was charged with creating a false public alarm and released pending a court hearing.

A volunteer for the Mt. Laurel Youth Baseball League reported a theft. Two aluminum batter’s box templates, valued at $500, were taken from outside the storage sheds at Laurel Acres Park. The incident occurred between 9 p.m. Sept. 23, and 6 p.m. Sept. 24.

A guest of a hotel on Route 73 reported the theft of a cell phone valued at $200 from their room. The incident occurred on Sept. 26, between noon and 12:40 p.m. There was no sign of force to the room.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 37-year-old woman, of the 100 block of Third Street, Riverside, on Sept. 26 for theft. While employed as a house cleaner on Sept. 15, she stole jewelry valued at $600. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile resident of the Twin Oaks Group Home on the 800 block of Union Mill Road on Sept. 26 for criminal mischief and violation of probation. The juvenile damaged a table and television. He was served with juvenile delinquency complaints and committed to the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Facility pending a court hearing.

An employee of Verizon Wireless reported a shoplifting. The incident occurred on Sept. 25 between 8 and 9 p.m. Unidentified suspects took two cell phones valued at approximately $1,200.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 26-year-old woman, of the unit block of Spottswood Avenue, Monroe Township, on Sept. 27, for driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on Hartford Road near Whitechapel Drive at 3:56 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A resident of the unit block of Bretton Way reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between midnight and 4 a.m., Sept. 27. A vehicle window was broken. Damage is estimated at $500.
