Haverfield Aviation, Inc. begins aerial inspections
Be advised that Haverfield Aviation, Inc. began performing routine aerial inspections on the Jersey Central Power & Light transmission lines on Thursday, Sept. 11. The routine aerial inspections in the JCP&L region typically require about 12–15 days for completion, so the aerial patrols are expected into the last week of the month depending on weather conditions, as well as other scheduling needs.
The helicopter will be flying slowly, 20–30 mph, along the lines and may hover at any time for a closer inspection. The helicopter scheduled for these patrols is black with red letters, MD 500, with registration number N353AH on the tail. While this should have no impact on Tabernacle, it should be noted that the contractor has been authorized to patrol the transmission circuits in their entirety, so patrols on certain lines may therefore extend into the neighboring regions. The flight crew provides information on their daily location to both Transmission Lines Maintenance and the WCC, and the pilot will be in communication with any local airports when in their airspace. Please note that poor weather and emergency patrols or repairs elsewhere may cause re-scheduling and or delays in the projected schedule.
Please contact William Lowe, Tabernacle Emergency Management Coordinator, with any questions, problems or if you are in need of any additional information regarding the routine aerial inspections.
