Burlington County hosting recycling and shredding event on Sept. 20

Burlington County will hold a shredding and recycling event for all residents on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Resource Recovery Complex due to single-stream construction.

“We are reminding residents that the event will be temporarily moved to the Resource Recovery Complex while construction continues over at OTC involving our single-stream project,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio. “The event will be user friendly like it always has been with plenty of volunteers on hand to accept recyclables.”

Residents are urged to bring only “confidential” documents for shredding, such as bank and credit card statements, tax returns, papers with account numbers or social security numbers. Recyclables will be shredded on-site and should not be brought already shredded. Up to four bags or boxes per household will be accepted.

“At previous events, there have been residents bringing non-confidential documents such as junk mail, magazines, and catalogs,” Garganio said. “These types of papers should be recycled at the curb or municipal drop-off.”

Residents can help preserve landfill space by bringing old electronics including:

· Computers

· Laptops

· Keyboards

· Printers

· Scanners

· Monitors

· TV’s

· Mice/Cables

· Copiers

· Fax Machines

· VCR/DVD/MP3 Players

· Game Consoles

At this event only, residents are allowed to recycle:

· Microwaves

· Stereos/Equipment

· Record Players

· Vacuum Cleaners

· Irons

· Toasters

· Blenders & Mixers

This event is for Burlington County residents only. ID is required. No businesses or non-profits please. For more information call (609) 449–1001 or email [email protected].
