Cherry Hill man, 62, arrested for trying to lure 14-year-old girl

The following information was provided by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

A 62-year-old Cherry Hill man who showed up at a predetermined location in Mount Holly on Sept. 9 to have sex with an underage girl he met online was instead confronted by law enforcement officers who placed him under arrest for attempt to commit sexual assault, attempted luring and endangering the welfare of a child.

The man thought he had been communicating electronically with a 14-year-old girl. In reality, the person on the other end was a detective from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.

He was taken into custody on Sept. 9 after traveling to an undisclosed location in Mt. Holly where he believed the underage girl would be waiting to meet him. The investigation revealed the man had vodka and condoms in his car at the time of his arrest.

The investigative details of the operation will not be divulged.

The man, who works as a kitchen designer for a home improvement store, was lodged in the Burlington County Jail on $70,000 bail. The case will be referred to a Grand Jury to determine whether an indictment should be returned.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office with assistance from the Mt. Holly Police Department. The prosecutor’s office is a member of the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
