It could be a heated race this November for the three open seats on the Evesham Township School District Board of Education as there are twice as many candidates running than there are seats available.
According to the Burlington County Clerk’s office, incumbents JoAnne Harmon and Sandy Student are running for re-election, along with four other candidates: Elaine Barbagiovanni, Linda Hughes, Jay Levenson and Philip Wessner.
Levenson previously served on the board until his term ended in 2013. Incumbent Dave Silver is not running for reelection.
The three open seats are for three-year terms.
Also contested this year will be one open seat to represent Evesham for three years on the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education
Incumbent Lenape BOE member Joanne Sanferraro is running for reelection against Barry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald served on the board until his term ended in 2012.
The Evesham Township School District and Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education elections will take place alongside the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4. More information will be available as the date of the election draws closer.
