The Deborah Idol competition is back. For the third year, this ever-popular singing competition returns to the region. Contestants in two age divisions, 10 to 15 years old and 16 to25 years old, can vie for their share of the grand prize winnings: $1,000 per division; $500 for first runner-up and $250 for second runner-up.
The first round of auditions will be held in Mt. Laurel Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Enterprise Center at Burlington County College. A second round of auditions will be held on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. in Toms River. The top ten contestants in each division will move on to the grand finale on Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at Pemberton Township High School. Melissa Gorga, star of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, will once again be on hand at the grand finale.
All contestants must pre-register for one of the preliminary auditions. The registration fee is $25. Early registrations are encouraged, since the number of contestants per location is limited. All contestants will be judged by professional singers, songwriters, and musicians. There is a $5 admission fee to view the preliminary auditions.
