Rabbi Monica Kleinman hired as Adath Emanu-El’s Religious School director

When Adath Emanu-El started the search for someone to replace their retiring Religious School director, they knew what a pivotal role that person would play in their congregation. Adath values education and a vibrant Religious School is a key part of synagogue growth. That is why they decided to seek out a Rabbi educator instead of a layperson to lead their Religious School. Adath is the only synagogue in the area to have a Rabbi in the role of religious school director.

Rabbi Monica Kleinman’s credentials stood out because she has a background in both Jewish Studies and school administration. Born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin, she recently graduated from Hebrew Union College and received her master’s degree in education administration from Xavier University. This gives Rabbi Kleinman the unique ability to understand both sides of religious school administration.

In working with Rabbi David, Rabbi Kleinman seeks to transform the religious school into a place that meets the needs of every learner and brings every family closer to Jewish tradition. By using technology, the arts, social action and community building, she seeks to re-energize the entire congregational community. She has already established herself as dynamic, engaging, and smart.

Kleinman and her husband, Rabbi Jon Kleinman are excited to start their married life in South Jersey.
