Suspicious package forced closure of Evesham Municipal Complex

The following information comes from Lt. Joseph Friel of the Evesham Township Police Department:

On April 24 at 5:40 a.m., an Evesham Police Officer located a suspicious package in the lobby area of the Municipal Complex. The suspicious package was addressed to the Evesham Municipal Court Judge and had wires protruding from the side, appearing to be a bomb.

For the safety of the public, ETPD immediately evacuated the complex, closed New Road and summoned the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad. The NJSP Bomb Squad quickly arrived on location, detonated the package and ultimately deemed the device not to be an explosive.

ETPD appreciates the patience and cooperation of all the employees and motorists who were inconvenienced by the safety measures that were put place by the police department.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone who has information is asked to contact the Evesham Police Department at (856) 983–1116, the Confidential Tip Line at (856) 983–4699 or email at [email protected]. Anonymous tips text ETPDTIP to 847411.
