Cherry Hill Police arrest Pennsauken male in connection with burglary

The following information was submitted by the Cherry Hill Police Department.

Cherry Hill detectives worked with the Cinnaminson Police Department to develop a suspect in recent residential burglaries. On Tuesday Feb. 18, a 42-year-old male from Pennsauken was arrested by Cherry Hill detectives and confessed his involvement in a burglary in the 100 block of Pearlcroft Road on Feb. 7. He was also charged with two counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief in Cinnaminson with $100,000 full bail and $72,000 full bail for charges from a burglary in Haddon Twp. that occurred on Feb. 4. The suspect, who was a fugitive from Pennsylvania, was also wanted by the Camden County Sheriff’s Department for failure to pay child support. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of bail.

In the last few weeks Cherry Hill has experienced several residential daytime burglaries. The police are calling on our residents to become actively involved in protecting their neighborhoods and reporting suspicious people or activity.

Potential burglars will often knock on a resident’s door to see if anyone is home before breaking in. If someone answers he or she will usually ask for directions, claim they lost a pet, or try to solicit “handyman” work. If someone suspicious unexpectedly knocks on your door please notify the police department. As additional “eyes and ears” of law enforcement, residents can help to reduce crime and increase the quality of our community by knowing what to report. A quick and accurate description of events, vehicles, and persons can make the difference in apprehending a potential criminal. The police caution against putting oneself in danger when reporting suspicious activity but if possible to try to obtain the suspect’s physical description including what he or she is wearing. When reporting suspicious vehicles, information as to the make and model, vehicle occupants, the license plate or any identifying marks or characteristics and direction of travel is crucial. Alert citizens can effectively work with police to reduce crime and have shown their success in the past.
