On Jan. 15 at approximately 3:30 am, the Cherry Hill Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident and shots fired call at the Habitat Apartments located at 966 Park Boulevard.
Arriving patrol units located a vehicle off the road into the tree line. The occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene prior to police arrival. At this time a search of the surrounding area was conducted and two suspects were located a short distance away. A K-9 search was also conducted which led to the discovery of a 22-caliber handgun loaded with blanks.
Both suspects were detained, questioned, and later charged for possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The driver was also charged with DWI and admitted to JFK Hospital for injuries suffered as a result of the motor vehicle accident.
