Nikla Mae Applegate, age 56, of Haddonfield, Cherry Hill and New Lisbon, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 25, after a long fight against ovarian cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah Applegate and predeceased by three brothers, Edward Jr., Walter and Daniel Applegate. Nikla is survived by her brother and legal guardian, Thomas (Bonnie) Applegate and her brother Steven Applegate.
She was a graduate of Cherry Hill East High School, class of 1978. While crossing Haddon Avenue in Westmont in 1988, she was hit by a car and had since been a resident of New Lisbon Developmental Center.
She was well liked and good friends with everyone who knew her. She worked at Good Will Industries at New Lisbon and she will forever be missed and held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and she will be missed by her boyfriend, George, at New Lisbon. The entire staff at New Lisbon Developmental Center has taken excellent care of Nikla for the last 23 years.
Cremation will be private and burial will be at the Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery.
