Local black belt student David Hyman competes at NAFMA World Championships

The 2013 World Championships featured competitors from 11 countries who competed in point sparring, forms, weapons and stick fighting. Team USA was comprised of 20 members.

Hyman lives in Mt. Laurel and is a third-degree black belt at the National Karate Institute in Moorestown. Hyman attends Lenape High School where his favorite subjects are mathematics and history. He competed in forms, weapons and point sparring. He began karate at 3 years old. He is now 15 years old.

“Training at National Karate Institute helps me be more disciplined, more physically fit and has become a way of life for me,” Hyman said, “and I have made positive friendships as well.”
