Alice Paul Institute is in need of volunteers

Help spruce up the grounds at Paulsdale, the birthplace and family home of New Jersey’s most famous suffragist, Alice Paul.

The Alice Paul Institute needs volunteers, ages 12 years and older, to help clean out and make minor repairs to outbuildings and trim underbrush at Paulsdale, 128 Hooton Road, Mt. Laurel, on Cleanup Day, Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Bring gloves, rakes, hedge clippers and other gardening tools and dress for the weather.

Hot coffee and warm conversation will be served. Students looking for volunteer opportunities can earn community service hours.

To sign up for Cleanup Day or for information, call 231–1885 or e-mail Kris Myers, director of programs for the Alice Paul Institute, at [email protected].

The Alice Paul Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about the life and work of New Jersey’s most famous suffragist, Alice Stokes Paul, author of the Equal Rights Amendment, founder of the National Woman’s Party, and a lifelong activist for women’s equality. The mission of the Alice Paul Institute is to promote full gender equality through education, development and empowerment of leaders. The legacy of Alice Paul provides the foundation and the beacon to develop critical leadership skills and inspire others to become agents of positive change. Paulsdale, Alice Paul’s birthplace and family home in Mount Laurel, is a National Historic Landmark and serves as a center for celebrating women’s history and leadership.
