COUNTY: events postponed due to weather

The Camden County Freeholder Board’s Department of Special Events has postponed tonight’s jazz concert in Cooper River Park due to the continued threat of excessive rain this evening In addition a flash flood watch will be in effect until midnight.

The performance by Nasir Dickerson and the Renaissance Messengers of Jazz with Special Guests the Conservatory of Musical Arts High School Jazz All Stars will be rescheduled.

“It is unfortunately necessary to cancel this concert based upon the latest weather forecast we have received,” said Freeholder Ed McDonnell, liaison to the Department of Special Events. “We are all working toward a new date for the performance, so stay tuned.”

The Camden County Mosquito Commission has also postponed the spraying originally scheduled for this evening due to the inclement weather. The spraying that was to be conducted in Lindenwold, Oaklyn, Haddonfield and Pennsauken will be rescheduled on a later date.

“The Camden County Mosquito Commission encourages residents to continue to safeguard against the pests by eliminating standing water in your yards. This has been even more important this summer due to the high rainfall amounts our region has experienced,” said Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Mosquito Commission. “While the chance of becoming ill from a mosquito is relatively small, you can do your part to protect yourself and your family.”

The Camden County Mosquito Commission regularly checks several thousand suspected mosquito breeding sites across the county.

Mosquito spraying is scheduled on an as needed basis based upon the results of their surveillance efforts.

The mosquito spray is not harmful to humans or pets, but you should avoid direct contact if you have respiratory concerns or are sensitive to irritants.

For more information, or to report a problem, contact the Camden County Mosquito Commission at (856) 566–2945 or [email protected].
