The Evesham Township Police Department introduced three new officers: Officer Danielle R. Torres, Officer Michael Hatler and Officer Daniel Hurley.
On Monday July 15, the three newest members of the force began their three-month field-training program.
Torres enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in January 2004.
She successfully completed boot camp, attended required training and rose to the rank of civil affairs sergeant.
In May 2008, she was deployed to Iraq with the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade.
She served in Iraq for one year.
While there, she was part of a specially picked team that transported high-ranking military officials to different bases.
She operated as the gunner during these off-base missions. Torres also worked with the Iraqi citizens as a civil affairs sergeant. She earned numerous ribbons and medals for her service and was honorably discharged this year.
Torres worked as a corrections officer at the Atlantic County Justice Facility for approximately five years.
In March 2013, she was hired by the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office.
She attended the Gloucester County Police Academy where she was appointed the class leader and ultimately graduated earning the academy’s Special Dedication Award.
She has served at the Sheriff’s Office for approximately one year.
Hatler attended Rowan University. In 2012, he graduated with a Bachelor in Science Degree in law and justice.
He then attended the Gloucester County Police Academy and graduated in 2010.
Hurley attended the University of Delaware.
In 2012, he graduated with a Bachelor of Art Degree in criminal justice.
He then attended the Gloucester County Police Academy and graduated in 2010.
Hurley and Hatler were both alternate route recruits and were selected as two of the three alternate route candidates out of more than 120 applicants for the Gloucester County Police Academy.
Both received a scholarship award from the Police Academy upon graduation.
