Suspects burglarizing grieving families

The following reports are on file with the Medford Township Police Department:

Police in Medford Township and Franklin Township have charged a male, 41, of the 600 block of Riviera Drive in Williamstown and a female, 28, of Lamont Court in Sicklerville with multiple residential burglaries that occurred between May 24 and June 1.

The investigation revealed that in each case, the suspects were checking obituaries in the newspaper.

They would then find the address of the deceased person in the white pages and burglarize the homes while family and friends were attending the funeral.

Police charged the suspects after a search warrant was executed at the male’s residence and on his vehicle.

Police were able to locate a stolen shotgun and rifle from the burglary in Franklin Township as well as jewelry and other items that were proceeds from burglaries in Medford Township.

The suspects were charged with burglarizing a residence on Old Marlton Pike on May 24 and a residence on Tallowood Drive on May 31 in Medford Township.

The male has also been charged with a burglary on Morris Avenue on June 1 in Franklin Township.

The suspects have been charged in Medford Township with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, one count of criminal mischief and one count of possession of a handgun.

Both subjects’ bails were set at $202,500 full cash by Municipal Court Judge Peter Lange.

The male suspect has been charged in Franklin Township with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, trespassing, possession of a weapon and certain persons possessing weapons. Municipal Court Judge Joan Sorbello-Adams set additional bail at $50,000. He is currently lodged in the Gloucester County Jail.

The female suspect is a wanted person.

Anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of the female is asked to contact the Medford Township Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Assisting with the investigation were members of the Franklin Township, Medford Township, Monroe Township and Pitman Police Departments.
