At this time of the year Moorestown is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty exhibited by its plants and wild life. STEM (Save the Environment of Moorestown) celebrates this abundance with its annual nature photography contest. Photography is a great way of capturing the beauty of nature in Moorestown and sharing it with our family and friends. Here is your chance to show off your community and your photographic skills.
The photos must be taken in Moorestown after June 2012 of nature subjects such as plants, insects, birds and animals. Submit 5 by 7 inch prints (color or black and white).
Entries must have the following info written on the back of the photo to qualify: Title of picture; name and address of the photographer plus email address; designate adult or children’s division (16 and under); location of photo; month and year of photo; and an arrow pointing to the top of the picture.
Some tips:
• Take early morning shots when lighting is softer
• Keep your back to the sun but also consider flowers and shrubs illuminated from behind.
• Look for special effects from fog or after a rain.
• Get down on the level of your subject for better perspective.
• Remember the best camera is the one you have with you. This may be your cell phone!
Digital editing and adjustments are accepted, but not photo montages. Mail entries to STEM, P.O. Box 704, Moorestown, NJ 08057 by June 23, or bring to STEM’s Annual Picnic on June 30, 1:30 to 4:30 at the Moorestown Community House. If you wish to stay for the picnic, bring food to share. Call Betsy Schnorr at 235–6348 for picnic information. A maximum of four entries per person will be accepted. You do not need to be present to win.
All prints submitted will become the property of STEM for non-commercial use in educational and promotional materials. For more information, call Bill Creekmore at 461–8717.
