Bridge rehabilitation construction scheduled to begin June 17

Construction work for the rehabilitation of County Bridge D4.11 over the north branch of the Rancocas Creek, located on Bispham Street in Mt. Holly Township, is scheduled to begin Monday, June 17. There is a possibility of some required utility relocation work beginning prior to JuneĀ 17.

The project is estimated to take about six months, with completion scheduled for early December, Freeholder Director Joseph B. Donnelly announced today.

The project will be constructed in three stages while maintaining one-lane of egress traffic exiting out of Bispham Street to Washington Street at all times. A detour will be posted for ingress traffic trying to enter Bispham Street from Washington Street using: Washington Street to White Street to CharlesĀ Street.

The existing bridge was built in 1938 and has been identified as structurally deficient. The rehabilitation includes the removal and replacement of the existing superstructure and upper portion of bridge abutments. The new superstructure will be steel beams with reinforced concrete bridge deck and sidewalks and a steel ornamental bridge railing founded on new portions of abutments. The existing roadway width and alignment will be maintained. Approximately 110 feet of roadway, curbing and sidewalk, and drainage will also be reconstructed.

The majority of the $1,432,959.00 project will be funded by the NJDOTā€Šā€”ā€ŠLocal Bridge Future Needs Fund, with the remaining portion funded by theĀ county.

The project will be constructed by Montana Construction, Inc. of Lodi,Ā NJ.
