Congregation M’kor Shalom will host the first Author on the Road speaker as part of the Katz JCC Bank of America Festival of Arts, Books and Culture.
Larry Smith, author of Oy! Only Six? Why Not More? Six-Word Memoirs on Jewish Life, will be speaking at Congregation M’kor Shalom on Sunday, May 5.
Smith, a native of Moorestown, is the creator of the Six-Word Memoir Project that can be found on his online magazine SMITHmag.net.
This project has further expanded into a best-selling eight-book series, along with live events all over the country. It has also been used as a conversation starter in classrooms, boardrooms, hospitals, speed-dating sessions, synagogues, churches and more. This newest book has 360 six-word entries reflecting on Jewish life and ranging from hilarious to poignant.
These were submitted by people from around the world, including several famous names, such as Larry David, Henry Winkler and Tovah Feldshuh.
In a high-energy, interactive presentation, Larry will speak about how this simple form began and invite you to share your six words on your own Jewish life. By the end of this session, you’ll be thinking in sixes and leave with a conversation starter to bring back to your own home.
Join us for a morning of exploration, enlightenment and entertainment on Sunday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Congregation M’kor Shalom, 850 Evesham Road, Cherry Hill.
