County to hold recycling event March 23

The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders are sponsoring a free document shredding and e-waste recycling event for county residents this Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert C. Shinn, Jr. Recycling Center at 130 Hancock Lane off County Route 541 in Westampton.

“This is one of the most popular and useful events the County provides to residents,” said Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly. “There is a steady stream of vehicles leaving off materials, which shows that residents take the time to safely dispose of computer components and old TV sets.”

County residents may bring confidential documents for shredding and televisions, computers and laptops to be recycled. Staff will unload directly from vehicles.

This event is for Burlington County residents only, businesses and non-profits are not permitted.

These events have always been well-received by residents.

At the event last month, 989 residents brought 24,100 pounds of confidential documents to be shredded and recycled 40,628 pounds of electronic items, which is even more of a priority since State law banned them from all landfills and incinerators in 2011.

Contact the Recycling Office at (609) 499–1001 or [email protected] for more information.
