“Footloose” production begins tomorrow

“Footloose” production begins tomorrow

Voorhees Middle School Drama Club invites you to “cut loose” and come see its high-energy production of “Footloose” on Friday, March 15, to Sunday, March 17, at the Voorhees Middle School Theater, located at 1000 Holly Oak Drive in Voorhees. Based on the popular movie and featuring such chart-topping 80s hits as “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Almost Paradise,” “Let’s Hear it for the Boy,” and the title song, “Footloose,” tells the tale of a teenaged boy who moves from the big city to a conservative rural town where rock music and dancing are banned, and his efforts to take on authority to lift the ban. This is a show your entire family will love. So join us for one of our four performances.

“Footloose” was adapted for the stage by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford.

Show time is 7 p.m. on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16, with a family matinee on March 16 at 1 p.m. On Sunday, March 17, show time is 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, and all seats are reserved. Senior citizens are invited to watch this production free of charge on Sunday, March 17 courtesy of the PRIDE of the Voorhees Teachers Education Association. This popular show is sure to be a sell-out, so please reserve your seats early.

Ticket sales begin on March 2. VMS box office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays in March from 3 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Tickets are also available one hour prior to each performance. The Voorhees Middle School Drama Club is comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission named the Voorhees program as its pick for “Best of Camden County” for its production of “Into the Woods.” This year’s production of “Footloose” continues the tradition of excellence in theater.
