New YMCA Camps programs approach

Intro to Mountain Biking
The YMCA Camps are the perfect location for all those mountain biking enthusiasts. This class is designed to teach the basics of mountain biking in a safe and fun environment. Your child will learn basic bike maintenance, biker safety and proper biking techniques while increasing confidence and staying active on Fridays, April 19 to May 10, for four weeks. The minimum age to participate is 8 years old and maximum age to participate is 14. The fee for members is $40 and for nonmembers is $50.
Intro to Climbing
This class is a wonderful introduction to the adventures of climbing. The 50-foot tall climbing tower has three different climbing sides with varying difficulty levels. As the child progresses through the class learning safety and climbing techniques, children will increase self-confidence, stay active, have fun and reach new heights on Tuesdays, March 19 to April 9, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The fee for members is $40 per person for four weeks and non-member fee is $50 per person for four weeks. The minimum age to participate is 8 years old and maximum age to participate is 14.
Intro to boating
Spend your afternoons on spectacular Lake Stockwell and learn all the basics of boating. From safely navigating canoes to learning the importance of balance on kayaks, this program builds confidence on the water. A Red Cross certified instructor leads the program on Mondays, April 15 to May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. The fee for members is $40 for four weeks and nonmember fee is $50. The minimum age for participation is 8 years old while maximum age is 14.
Intro to Advanced Climbing
This program is ideal for your aspiring climber. Implementing techniques from the Intro to Climbing program, your child will learn new techniques and advance in their climbing skills in a safe environment. Previous participation in Intro to Climbing is required. Minimum age is 8 years old and maximum age is 14. The program begins on Tuesdays, April 16 to May 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. Fee for members is $50 and fee for nonmembers is $60.
